Many people have been part of the proud history of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) and Salus University. Alumni, faculty, and friends of the College helped establish PCO as a pioneer and leader in the field of optometric education and the profession of optometry. The following people - highlighted on Medal Mondays - were honored on May 20, 1995 at the 75th Anniversary Gala Celebration for their outstanding contributions to the College and the field of optometry and vision care.
At the Centennial Gala Celebration on April 27, 2019, additional alumni, faculty, and friends will be honored.
Dr. George Crozier led a long and distinguished career as an administrator and faculty member of the College. He joined the faculty in 1949 and served as an Associate Professor until 1981, primarily teaching in the area of biological sciences. He developed and introduced the course on vertebrate embryology and co-chaired the revision and integration of all bioscience courses for first and second year student. Dr. Crozier published four laboratory manuals used extensively within bioscience course work at the college. In 1981, he was appointed Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for Faculty and served in this capacity until his death in 1988. He maintained a private practice for many years. In 1980, Dr. Crozier’s practice was the first to be purchased by The Eye Institute. He was named Alumnus of the Year in 1982.
