Medal Monday: Leon Candeub, OD ’54

President’s Medal Recipients

Many people have been part of the proud history of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) and Salus University.  Alumni, faculty, and friends of the College helped establish PCO as a pioneer and leader in the field of optometric education and the profession of optometry. The following people - highlighted on Medal Mondays - were honored on May 20, 1995 at the 75th Anniversary Gala Celebration for their outstanding contributions to the College and the field of optometry and vision care.

At the Centennial Gala Celebration on April 27, 2019, additional alumni, faculty, and friends will be honored. 

Leon Candeub, OD ’54, PhD (Temple University, ’70)

Dr. CandeubDr. Candeub joined the PCO faculty in 1957. He specialized in the area of pharmacology and physiology and served as Associate Professor of Optometry. In 1973, Dr. Caneub became the first Director of the Department of Continuing Education. The Department initiated the first nation-wide program for the instruction in the use of pharmaceutical agents as related to optometry. Dr. Caneub lectured throughout the country and maintained a private practice in Oreland, Pennsylvania. Dr. Caneub passed June 29, 1998.
