Centennial
Many people have been part of the proud history of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) and Salus University. Alumni, faculty, and friends of the College helped establish PCO as a pioneer and leader in the field of optometric education and the profession of optometry. The following people - highlighted on Medal Mondays - were honored on May 20, 1995 at the 75th Anniversary Gala Celebration for their outstanding contributions to the College and the field of optometry and vision care.
At the Centennial Gala Celebration on April 27, 2019, additional alumni, faculty, and friends will be honored.
One of the world’s most renowned optometric scientists, Dr. William Feinbloom pioneered the development of many specialized optical devices for partially sighted individuals. He restored practical vision to thousands of patients through the use of high-index specialty lenses. Dr. Feinbloom was honored by heads of foreign governments, religious leaders, and scores of professional associations in America and abroad for his extraordinary accomplishments in the eye care and vision field. He founded the William Feinbloom Rehabilitation Center at PCO’s Eye Institute in 1978 by donating his low vision practice to the College. In 1982, Dr. Feinbloom was the recipient of the Alumni Association’s Public Service Award.
