Pre-Clinical Experience
Salus Physician Assistant students gain early, patient clinical exposures throughout the entire didactic phase of the program. During the first semester, students practice history taking, technique of examination and documentation skills at a local community hospital under the guidance of faculty. Students are also afforded observational pre-clinical experiences every Wednesday morning during the spring and summer semesters to reinforce classroom instruction. These pre-clinical experiences provide exposure to primary care settings and providers who are integral to the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Students report that these experiences provide a greater understanding of health promotion, care delivery systems and informatics. Additionally these experiences help acclimate students in the transition to the clinical phase of the program.
