At the beginning of last week, Salus welcomed the new Safety and Security director, Carlos Rodriguez.
In his new role, Rodriguez will be responsible for the internal and external security and safety of students, staff, and campus facilities within the confines of all campuses and satellite facilities of Salus University including The Eye Institute, Pennsylvania Ear Institute, and Speech-Language Institute.
“I am looking forward to meeting the student body and all of the constituents here at Salus University,” he said.
As for what he has planned to accomplish in his first 90-days? “The Salus community is important to me and I will value your input and I will listen to you in order to maintain the Salus University educational experience,” he said. He went on to reaffirm that Safety and Security will “continue to provide the excellent service,” in which the community has become accustomed. “Moving forward, I hope that we will be able to focus on areas of crime prevention, strengthen communication, achieve organizational excellence and provide superior service, while developing and maintaining a quality workforce,” he said.
With more than 14 years of experience in law enforcement, Rodriguez has also worked for 11 years in higher education as a supervisor/administrator for Campus Public Safety. He previously worked in leadership positions for security at Immaculata University, Villanova University, Drexel University and the Atlantic County Department of Public Safety.
Rodriguez also has certifications as a Pressure Point Control Tactics Instructor, a Monadnock Instructor, CPR, and various other certifications in internal affairs, interview and interrogation, gangs, and narcotics.
Even though he is new to campus, he is excited to begin this new endeavor and strengthen foundational relationships. “It is important for me to build relationships with the Salus community and I believe if we all work together as a community and a family we will be able to continue to provide quality service to our community that is the hallmark of the Department of Safety and Security,” he said.
Salus is proud to welcome Rodriguez as a strong member of our team and we have no doubt he will excel in his new position at the University.
