Salus Forms New Partnership with Cedar Crest College

Salus University has signed four new articulation agreements with Cedar Crest College (CCC) in Allentown, Pa., with the Doctor of Audiology degree program; the Doctor of Optometry degree program; the Department of Blindness and Low Vision Studies masters programs; and the Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Master of Medical Science degree program.

“These agreements between Salus University and Cedar Crest College will provide students interested in the health professions an opportunity to either accelerate the time it takes to achieve the Doctor of Optometry or Doctor of Audiology degree, or, as in the case of the 4+2 agreements, put the students on the right track for achieving a graduate degree,” said Monica Maisto Scirrotto, MS, director of Admissions at Salus. “We are excited to begin this partnership with Cedar Crest and to assist its students in reaching their professional goals.”

The agreements include:

3 + 4 Doctor of Audiology Degree Program

For the Doctor of Audiology degree program, Salus University’s Osborne College of Audiology and CCC have agreed students who successfully complete the 90 semester credit pre-audiology curriculum at CCC with a 3.3 GPA or above may be eligible for admission to the Salus University Osborne College of Audiology (OCA) Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree program.

The educational pathway is referred to as 3 + 4 Doctor of Audiology Degree Program and is composed of two phases: Phase I is comprised of the student earning a minimum of 90 semester credits at CCC, which includes the pre-audiology curriculum; Phase II is comprised of the Doctor of Audiology degree program at Salus OCA.

Salus OCA will reserve three seats in each incoming class for  the Doctor of Audiology for CCC students who have successfully completed Phase I of the program and Phase II of the application process. If there are more than three such qualified CCC students, the remaining CCC students will be considered for admission along with all other applicants.

3 + 4 Doctor of Optometry Degree Program

Under this agreement, students who successfully complete the minimum 90 semester credit pre-optometry curriculum at CCC with a 3.0 GPA or above may be eligible for admission into  Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree program.

The educational pathway is referred to as 3 + 4 Degree Program and is includes of two phases: Phase I is comprised of the pre-optometry curriculum at CCC; Phase II is comprised of the Doctor of Optometry Degree at Salus PCO.

In Phase I, CCC will select/admit those students who meet the admissions requirements of the program. CCC will submit to the Salus Office of Admissions the name and contact information for each student who begins Phase I of the program. Salus will communicate with each student as he/she advances through Phase I of the program. Relevant information about the program will be provided, and a visit to the Salus Office of Admissions for a pre-application appointment will be encouraged.

To complete Phase I of the program, a student must: (1) Complete the pre-optometry curriculum at CCC, which must consist of a minimum of 90 semester hours of undergraduate education, including the required prerequisites. Students who successfully complete Phase I must then apply to the Doctor of Optometry program at Salus PCO by following the application procedures as described on the website no later than Dec. 1 of the intending year. The admission procedure includes completion of a successful on-campus interview.

Salus PCO will reserve three seats in each class of the Doctor of Optometry program for CCC students who have successfully completed Phase I of the program and Phase II of the application process. If there are more than three such qualified CCC students, the remaining CCC students will be considered for admission along with all other applicants.

4 + 2 Department of Blindness and Low Vision Studies Master’s Programs

Under this agreement, students who successfully complete a bachelor’s degree at CCC may be eligible for admission to Salus University’s Blindness and Low Vision Studies (BLVS) Master’s Programs.

The educational pathway is referred to as the 4 + 2 Degree Program and includes two phases: Phase I is comprised of a bachelor’s degree at CCC; Phase II is comprised of one of the BLVS Master’s Programs at Salus. These include the Master of Science in Low Vision Rehabilitation, the Master of Science in Orientation and Mobility, the Master of Science in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy and the Maser of Education in Blindness and Visual Impairment.

CCC will select/admit students who meet the requirements for Phase I of the program and will submit to the Salus Office of Admissions the name and contact information for each student who begins Phase I. Salus will communicate with each student as he/she advances through Phase I. Relevant information about the program will be provided, and a visit to the Salus Office of Admissions for a pre-application appointment will be encouraged.

For admission into the program at Salus BLVS programs, a student must successfully complete Phase I, then must apply to the BLVS Master’s Program by following application procedures no later than Salus’ published application due dates as described on the University’s website.

Salus will reserve three seats in each BLVS Masters’ Programs for CCC students who have successfully completed Phase I of the program and Phase II of the application process. If there are more than three such qualified CCC students, the remaining CCC students will be considered for admission along with all other applicants.

4 + 2 Physician Assistant Master of Medical Science Degree Program

Under this agreement, students who successfully complete a Bachelor of Science degree and the minimum 120 semester credit pre-physician assistant curriculum at CCC with a 3.5 GPS or above may be eligible for admission to the Salus Physician Assistant (PA) program.

The educational pathway is referred to as the 4 + 2 Degree Program and includes two phases: Phase I is comprised of the pre-physician assistant curriculum at CCC; Phase II is comprised of the Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Salus.

CCC will select/admit students who meet the requirements for Phase I of the program and will submit to the Salus Office of Admissions the name and contact information for each student who begins Phase I. Salus will communicate with each student as he/she advances through Phase I. Relevant information about the program will be provided, and a visit to the Salus Office of Admissions for a pre-application appointment will be encouraged.

For admission into the program, a student must successfully complete Phase I and then apply to the PA Program by following the application procedures described on the Salus website. The admissions procedures include completion of a successful on-campus interview.
