Candance Hicks, MS, PhD, University Consortium Member

Candace Bourland Hicks has an MS from Purdue University and PhD from Vanderbilt University. She has been a faculty member at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) for 10 years, serving as program director for the AuD program for the past 7 years.  Within the department, she is active in the undergraduate, AuD and PhD programs.  Dr. Hicks has received the TTUHSC President's Distinguished Clinician Award and the TTUHSC President's Excellence in Teaching Award and has publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at state and national venues.   She is active at the state level through work with the Texas Speech-Language Hearing Association and at the national level through areas such as serving as a reviewer for national peer-reviewed publications.  She has served the community through work with programs for children with hearing loss and through the TTUHSC Cleft Palate Clinic.  Her research interests include listening effort in children with hearing loss, selective auditory attention in adults and children, and classroom amplification..
