Sean Richards Tikkun

Sean Richards Tikkun has served as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments and ACVREP COMS© for 6 years, who has also taught mathematics for 8 years at both high school and community college levels.  He has served as a teacher ranging from one room school house to serving over 10 districts scattered across southeaster Iowa, and most of the points in between.  He enjoys the challenges and joys of working with dynamic teams and exploring both time honored and innovative solutions to educating students with sensory impairments.  Mr. Tikkun is also an Intel Essentials Master Teacher and an Apple Distinguished Educator, who always has a slate and stylus on hand.  He has served as the Iowa AER state President and Wisconsin AER President-elect.  

Mr. Tikkun received his Bachelor's degree from Lake Forest College in Mathematics.  His first Master's is from Northern Illinois University in Special Education (where he will return as a NLCSD Fellow) and second from Full Sail University in Educational Media Design and Technology.  His thesis on adapting multimedia materials for the blind and visually impaired was presented as a session at AER International 2010 in Little Rock, AK.

Mr. Tikkun presents regularly on the accessibility of Apple devices, self-defense advocacy, and ways of creating digital materials.  His research interests include, Nemeth Code, accessible technology, digital learning media evaluation, self-defense and fitness, and augmented reality for O&M training.
