John Killoran is currently an Associate Fellow and the Director of the Teaching Research Institute (TRI) at Western Oregon University. He also serves as the Personnel Training Coordinator and is on the leadership team for the National Consortium on Deaf-Blindness, as well as being the deaf-blind community liaison and serving on the leadership team with the National Leadership Consortium in Sensory Disabilities. He has worked at TRI since 1998 and has had an extensive and varied career in education, grants management, and administration. Prior to coming to Oregon, he was the coordinator of Early Childhood Special Education with the Utah State Office of Education and the project director of multiple projects focusing on the inclusion of young children with disabilities in naturally occurring and inclusive community settings. During his 34 year career he has been a paraprofessional, a teacher, a principal, a state agency program director, and a national technical assistance provider. In each, he has been involved with services for young children with disabilities, including those who are deaf-blind and their families.
