National Association for Parents of Children with Visual Impairments
Mary Zabelski is the current Senior Vice President of Educational Service at The Chicago Lighthouse for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired. Mary oversees the Birth to Three Family Intervention Program and is the school Principal/ Director of the Child Development Center for Blind, Multi-disabled Children. She is also the past president of the National Association for Parents of Children with Visual Impairments (NAPVI) and started a state affiliate chapter, the Illinois Association for Parents of Children with Visual Impairments (IPVI) several years ago. Mary’s daughter was blind from retinoblastoma, graduated from college and law school and has several Paralympic medals in downhill skiing and tandem cycling.
Mary has a Masters Degree in Special Education and has completed her coursework for her doctorate at Northern Illinois University in Educational Psychology, except for finishing the dissertation.
She continues to work with parents and families of children in Illinois and throughout the country.
