Public Health Programs

GI / Federal Benefits

Salus University takes pride in the fact that our Master of Public Heath (MPH) degree program is approved for individuals who are eligible to receive tuition benefits under the Montgomery/Post 9-11 GI Bill (MGIB).

Whether you are active or retired US military, Public Health Service personnel, or an eligible federal government employee or retiree, the Salus MPH program is designed to empower you to take command of your career.

There are many advantages to the Salus MPH program. Chief among them is a completely online format, which allows students the flexibility to determine their best options and set their own pace from any duty station in the world. Our faculty are experienced public health professionals who bring their own real world perspectives to the courses they teach.

Individuals involved in public health professions are exceptional people who have passion for what they do and want to make a difference in the lives of others. We have dedicated the Salus Master of Public Health Program to addressing the disparities of integration into the public health workforce of certain health professions such as audiology, optometry, or physician assistant. The program’s instructional design is flexible, accessible to a variety of students and professionals from around the world, and supports effective learning where knowledge and learner are separated by distance and time.

Student centered and cost effective, the learning methodologies of the Salus MPH program are consistent with the rigorous Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements for distance education, as well as general distance standards in higher education.

Increasing evidence supports significant need and growth in distance learning opportunities. An active military student is a prime example of this and, with a distance learning format, there is no fear that a change in duty station or a deployment will interfere with courses that are underway. A recent meta-analysis of more than a thousand empirical studies of online learning from 1996 through July 2008* revealed that, “on average, students in online learning conditions performed better than those receiving face-to-face instruction.”

The Salus MPH program can help you to:

  • expand your career development horizons
  • build a skills base that prepares you for higher command responsibilities
  • acquire a competitive edge, whether for promotion or career change
  • make yourself an asset to your employer/command, particularly as today’s military frequently are called upon to assist in humanitarian missions around the globe.

For students serving on active duty, Salus MPH programs can be tailored to mission relevant Command projects, giving you a distinct advantage and real world situational experience.

At Salus, distance education augments our ability to optimize the interdisciplinary nature of our MPH program and courses, bringing together a diverse group of students and professionals from around the world to form a learning community. Each student’s unique perspective and our faculty’s real world experiences results in the promotion of shared learning, discovery, open engagement and impact – all essential components of the Salus academic philosophy.
