The intramural realm was definitely shocked last night as the entire 2016 OD class both girls and boys had a clean sweep across the board! The Eye Ballers (Captain: Tara Veverka OD’16) started the game off strong and kept that pace up as they cruised to their 1st win of the season. As the Old Hags (Captain: Maia Moyer OD’13) returned to the court they put up a good fight, but it was not enough this week as Eye Candy (Captain: Corrine Belanger OD’16) kept up with them and sealed the game during the last minute of the game.
The game of the night was truly a game to witness as the atmosphere was like the playoffs just started. An intense match-up occurred as both teams continued to go back and forth on each possession as 2014A (Captain: Vittorio Mena) were up by 6 points at halftime. 2016A (Captain: Jared Scheff) regrouped in the second half as they went on an incredible run and were up by 12 points with 10 minutes left in the game. However, 2014A did not give up as they responded with a run of their own to tie the game up with 4 minutes left to play. When it was all said and done, 2014A ended up in unfamiliar territory as they lost the game to the relentless new kids on the block in the last few minutes. 2016B (Captain: Sean Dempsey) followed in their fellow classmates’ footsteps as they took down 2015 (Captain: Andrew Tang) and Igor Shigol’s OD’15 fierce shooting from behind the ark. With a brand new FAPAS team (Captain: Kevin Morrison PA’14) they have to try to live up to last year’s team as they went all the way to the championship game. FAPAS kept the game interesting as they had quite the match-up against 2013A (Captain: Brandon Wuzzardo). Brandon was hot throughout the entire game, but the team fell just short of the win as they ended up losing the game by two points, giving the FAPAS team a good start to their season. 2014B (Captain: Tyler Doersam) could not be stopped down low as their inside presence was too much too handle as three of their players picked up a double-double as they crashed the boards and got many easy put backs. They will be a force this season as they start off on a very strong start.

Both the first year girls’ teams remain hot and they are still undefeated going (2-0) for the season.
Only two teams remain undefeated: 2016A (Captain: Jared Scheff) and 2014B (Captain: Tyler Doersam). 2016A started off the game real slow against 2013A (Captain: Brandon Wuzzardo), but as the game progressed they got into a rhythm. The game was close throughout both halves until about the last six minutes of the game where 2016A started to run away with it sealing the victory.
The game of the night against 2014B (Captain: Tyler Doersam) and FAPAS (Captain: Kevin Morrison PA’14) truly was a game to witness! FAPAS was in control early on leading by 17 points. 2014B would not give up though, as they picked up the pace in the second half - cutting the deficit down to four, with four minutes left in the game. FAPAS inadvertently called a time out without any left leading to a technical foul. 2014A made one of two free throws, cutting the deficit down to three and then ended up taking the lead a little later on. With 40 seconds left on the clock FAPAS tied the game 45-45. As time was winding down Xavier Thompson (2014B) drove to the basket, but was blocked by Kevin Speechly (FAPAS) with three seconds left to bring the game into overtime!
In overtime, 2014B took the lead by two with one minute left. With 20 seconds left on the clock John Guadron (FAPAS) makes a layup to tie the game 47 a piece. As time was winding down Xavier Thompson shot a “desperation three,” sending them to the second overtime of the night!
As players started to get into foul trouble, Kennard Herring (2014B) was clutch from the free throw line, making four consecutive free throws as they finally took the win and stole one away from the hard fought battle against the FAPAS.
Team 2015 (Captain: Andrew Tang) picked up their first win of the season with the combo of both Igòr Shigol and Andrew Tang putting up double-double performances last night.
2014A (Captain: Vittorio Mena) came out firing against 2016B (Captain: Sean Dempsey) as they needed to set the tone early after coming off a tough loss last week. With only six players for 2014A, unfortunately one of their teammates was badly injured during the first half going in for a layup and he fell hard after being fouled and popped his shoulder out. 2014A had to play with only five players for the rest of the game and needed to win this game for their fellow teammate. And that they did - as each player had double digits in points and won the game in a big fashion as they picked up their first win of the season!

What was expected to be a thriller game last night between the first year teams ended up to be a one sided escapade. Eye Candy (Captain: Corinne Belanger OD’16) kept it close with (Captain: Tara Veverka OD’16) as they were only down 11-7 at the half. In the second half however, Eye Ballers ran away with it as they defeated their fellow classmates 31-12 and remain undefeated for the season.
The combo between Old Hags and Fighting Irises had eight players on the court so they took some first years to play for fun. The Fighting Irises had a commanding lead until Rebecca Anidjar (Old Hags OD’13) brought her team back within three points during the second half with her consecutive rebounds and mid-jumpers. With the clock winding down - and down by three points - Captain Maia Moyer banked a three pointer to send the game into overtime. The Old Hags tried to tie the game up on a last second buzzer, but it was not enough to send it into a second overtime.
And then there was only one! After three weeks of play, 2014B(Captain: Tyler Doersam) takes the top spot as they are the only undefeated team left.
They played against 2015(Captain: Andrew Tang), where three players from 2014B, Tyler Doersam, Kennard Herring and Xavier Thompson, each picked up a double-double in both points and rebounds to seal off the victory.
FAPAS (Captain: Kevin Morrison PA’14) regrouped from their tough loss on Monday night as they gave 2016A(Captain: Jared Scheff) their first loss of the season. 2016A was missing their two big men as well as an outside shooter and kept the game close until FAPAS unleashed on them during the last 12 minutes of the game due to the outside shooting from Michael Baisden and Shawn Palmer (PA’14).
During the game Kevin Speechly (FAPAS) who is their big man ended up getting injured and unfortunately had to leave the game. He picked up a double-double however, even though he missed most of the second half!
2013A (Captain: Brandon Wuzzardo) ended up picking up their first win of the season as the game came down to the wire going to the free throw line in the last two minutes of the game to seal their victory. This time 2014A (Captain: Vittorio Mena) had four players in double digits in points as they cruised their way to victory and are now (2-1) after losing their first game of the season.

One player holds three columns: Brandon Wuzzardo (2013A).
The Athletic Committee wishes Kevin Speechly (FAPAS) a fast recovery!
Both first year women’s teams went back to their winning ways as they picked up the victories Thursday night.
The first game of the evening was quite intense, as both FAPAS (Captain: Kevin Morrison PA’14) and 2015 (Captain: Andrew Tang) went at it. Without their big man Kevin Speechly (FAPAS) in the lineup they were still able to keep up throughout the entire game. 2015, led by Tommy Rozelle’s 28 point performance, went on two big runs going up by 12 points, but FAPAS were able to cut the deficit down by 2-3 points each time.
As the game came down to the wire 2015 sealed the game at the free throw line as Andy Huynh (2015) hit two clutch shots to bring his team up by four with 40 seconds left in the game and evened up their record to the .500 mark.
2016B (Captain: Sean Dempsey) just had enough to field a team last night playing with no bench players as they took on their fellow classmates. 2016A (Captain: Jared Scheff) jumped to an early start and never let up as they go back to their winnings ways after losing last week.
The game of the night brought us an epic battle between the Class of 2014. 2014B (Captain: Tyler Doersam) started off hot going on an early run in the game as they were quickly up by 11 points. 2014A (Captain: Vittorio Mena) started to come back slowly and by half were only down by 1 point. By the start of the second half, Xavier Thompson (2014B) came down wrong and ended up not playing the rest of the game to prevent further injury. This affected their down low presence despite Tyler Doersam’s efforts as he grabbed 21 rebounds in the game. 2014A utilized this to their advantage as they started to run away with it towards the end to give 2014B their 1st loss of the season.
The first ever fourth year battle occurred as 2013B (Captain: Brett Prate) kept the game interesting against their fellow classmates. In the end, 2013A (Captain: Brandon Wuzzardo) came away with the win as they also reached the .500 mark going (2-2) for the season.

The Athletic Committee wishes Xavier Thompson (2014B) a fast recovery!
Both the first year woman’s teams continue rolling over the upperclassman. The Fighting Irises (Captain: Kelsey Moody OD’15) had Jasmine, a celeb guest play on their team. Jasmine gave team Eye Candy (Captain: Corinne Belanger OD’16) a little bit of trouble in the down low post, but Eye Candy remained relentless on the defensive end as they neutralized the celeb player and came away with their fourth victory of the season.
As we enter the second half of the season, three teams still remain with one loss apiece!
FAPAS (Captain: Kevin Morrison PA’15) had an intense battle on their hands as they faced 2016B (Captain: Sean Dempsey). The game continued to go back and forth until Kevin Morrison was injured on contact. 2016B continued being relentless as John Weathers (2016B) recorded 7 steals on the defensive end and Robbie Woodard (2016B) scored 23 points to help come away with the victory as they even up their records with FAPAS.
Team 2015 (Captain: Andrew Tang) tried to go over the .500 mark last night as they faced off against 2014A (Captain: Vittorio Mena). 2015 was down by 6 points at halftime, but in the second half 2014A ran away with the game and picked up their 4th win of the season.

The rematch occurred Thursday night where Eye Candy (Captain: Corinne Belanger OD’16) tried to even up the series against their rival first years, the Eye Ballers (Captain: Tara Veverka OD’16). With an intense matchup underway at the half Eye Ballers were up by two points. Eye Candy kept the game close the entire game until the last 2 minutes of the game. Down by four points, Eye Candy lacked fouling their opponents to try and get the ball back and suffered yet again another loss to their rivals.
Two teams are left with one loss a piece after Thursday night’s games. The first game between FAPAS (Captain: Kevin Morrison PA’15) and 2014A (Captain: Vittorio Mena OD’14) kept the crowd watching intently. Team 2014A has continuously comeback in games when trailing by 12 or more points this season. At the end of the first half, FAPAS center Kevin Speechly (PA’15) almost recorded a double-double where he was one rebound shy! During the second half, 2014A ended up tying the game at 47 apiece with two minutes left in the game after being down 16 points. With the help of Tim Whitmire’s (2014A) 22 point display and his team’s defensive work recording 10 steals, they were able to take yet another game away from FAPAS.
The game of the night brought us 2016A (Captain: Jared Scheff) vs. 2014B (Captain: Tyler Doersam). This head to head battle was also a sight to see! Team 2014B was down 19 points at one point and ended up coming within one point - with two minutes left in the game. Team 2015 looked like another team out there, as they recorded 16 assists and were hot from all over the court. Both Brett Igbinoba and Igòr Shigol (2015) scored 20 points each - and Igòr was one rebound shy of a 20 point 20 rebound game! With their offensive display they evened up their record to (3-3) in the season.

One player holds three columns on the leader board: Igòr Shigol (2015).
With the playoffs underway in the women’s league the atmosphere changed drastically. In the first game both teams utilized a celeb player. The Fighting Irises (Captain: Kelsey Moody OD’15) had Tyra and Eye Candy (Captain: Corinne Belanger OD’16) had Victoria. In the end Eye Candy came away with the win and heads to the championship game in two weeks.
In the second game, the upperclassmen Old Hags (Captain: Maia Moyer OD’13) must have had something to prove to the Eye Ballers, as they were a completely different team! Throughout the entire game it was a cat scratch match as each team kept clawing at each other.
At half time the Old Hags were up by 8 points. Every time the Eye Ballers (Captain: Tara Veverka OD’16) would score the Old Hags would respond right back. Towards the last few minutes of the game the Eye Ballers were starting to creep right back into it.
With 40 seconds left on the clock and down by 4, captain Tara Veverka got fouled going in for a lay-up sending her to the line. She made the first free-throw and then called a timeout to gather her team together. On her second shot she drained it and her team ended up making a defensive stop on the other end to give their team a chance to tie or even win the game.
With 14 seconds left on the clock, once again Tara Veverka was sent to the line after being fouled. With ice water in her veins she drained both shots to tie the game up 22-22 sending the game into overtime!
In overtime the Eye Ballers took the lead, but the Old Hags responded right back on the next trip down. With about one minute left, the Eye Ballers scored again and put pressure on their opponents. With the time winding down on the clock a player from the Old Hags took a shot at the buzzer from half court where the ball hit the side of the rim allowing the Eye Ballers to head to the championship game against their fellow classmates after a hard fought comeback!
In all three games on Thursday night, each of them were very close and there was even an UPSET alert! Team 2015 (Captain: Andrew Tang) has transformed during the secnd half of the season. They are playing like a whole new team, as they unexpectedly took down what looked like the #1 playoff seed 2016A (Captain: Jared Scheff).
For the past two weeks, Igòr Shigol (2015) has been on fire from down town and the entire team has been playing together both offensively and defensively. 2015 was up by 17 points at one point and 2016A had a stretch where they were coming back, but could only get as close at 6 points before they suffered their second loss of the season.
The game of the night was a must watch as 2016B (Captain: Sean Dempsey) and 2014B (Captain: Tyler Doersam) were in a head-ups battle. 2014B was up by four points at the half and by the end of the game it came down to the free-throw line as 2014 sealed the victory not allowing 2016B to tie up their records.
Even without their starting center 2014A (Captain: Vittorio Mena) continues their streak, as they have now won six straight - and are the only team in the league with one loss. During many games this season, 2014A has found themselves down going into the second half and somehow finds a way back to win the game. After being down 12 points they came back to win the game by 9 and are now looking to be the #1 seed when playoffs start.

As every team has now played each team once check out the season totals before the last regular season game in two weeks!
And then there was only one! Both first year women’s teams: Eye Candy (Captain: Corinne Belanger ’16OD) and the Eye Ballers (Captain: Tara Veverka ’16OD) had quite the battle last night! In their third head-ups battle against each other, this was the closest game of them all. At the end of the half the Eye Ballers were up 18-13. In the second half the Eye Ballers extended their lead but Eye Candy remained resilient, closing the gap as Kelsey Sieg (Eye Candy) went to the free throw line on consecutive trips, bringing her team closer in the last few minutes of the game. With one minute left on the clock and Eye Candy down by two, they were unable to ever take the lead on them. Congratulations to team Eye Ballers, as they are this year’s Intramural Basketball Champions!!!
What an exciting night we had, as two of the three teams were able to get revenge on their fellow classmates. Team 2015 (Captain: Andrew Tang) left right where they were last week as the team was once again lights out from behind the ark. Even with the FAPAS’ starting center (Kevin Speechley ’13PA) in the game this time they were unable to come away with the victory. The true game of the night came between both the first year teams - and it was a neck and neck battle. The game went back and forth until 2016B (Captain: Sean Dempsey) started to go on a mini run and were up by 12 at one point. Team 2016A (Captain: Jared Scheff) started to chip away at the deficit within the last ten minutes of the game.
As the game got down to the wire, it became a battle where free throws would be the key to victory. Team 2016A cut the deficit to two points with about two minutes left in the game. Point guard Daniel Situ (2016A) ended up hitting the game tying lay-up at 43 apiece, to send the game into overtime as 2016B was unable to hit the game winner at the buzzer!
In overtime 2016B had a little bit of an edge as they ended up winning the game at the free throw line. Team 2014B (Captain: Tyler Doersam) finally got their revenge against their fellow classmates 2014A (Captain: Vittorio Mena). Team 2014A was up at half, but 2014B went on a tear in the 2nd half. It looked like 2014A was about to do their heroic come backs late in the game, but were never able to cut the gap close enough as 2014B came out victorious.

The first game of the night brought us the #1 seed 2014A (Captain: Vittorio Mena) facing off against the #5 seed 2016B (Captain: Sean Dempsey).
Team 2014A started off hot, going on a 10-0 run to begin the game. Late in the first half 2016B started to get in a little groove as they cut their deficit to 15 points, as Sean Dempsey hit a half-court shot to end the half!
In the second half 2014A never took their foot off the pedal, as all five of their starters scored in double digits, sealing the victory and advancing to the finals for the second year in a row.
In the second game, the #2 seed 2014B (Captain: Tyler Doersam) faced off against the #3 seed 2015 (Captain: Andrew Tang). Team 2015, looking to win five straight, kept it real close in the first half, as they were down by only three points.
Throughout the entire game both teams were missing lay-ups consecutively until 2014B finally buckled down and took control of the game. They started to run away with the score led by Xavier Thompson’s (2014B) 18 point night and with the help of Tyler Doersam picking up 27 rebounds in the win!
2016B (1-1) vs. 2014A (1-0): 72-45
2015 (1-1) vs. 2014B (1-0): 53-37
Only two players picked up a double-double last night in both points and rebounds: Igòr Shigol (2015) and Brett Igbinoba (2015).
Standout players to watch as we head into the championship game: Vittorio Mena (2014A), Timothy Whitmire (2014A), Tyler Doersam (2014B) and Xavier Thompson (2014B).
The intensity of the playoffs are upon us as Thursday night’s games brought the crowd to their feet late in both games as each team is fighting to reach the final four. The heated rivalries swung back and forth, as technical fouls were flying everywhere and many plays were not being called down low, as the refs were letting the teams play. Ironically, by the end of the first half in both games the score was exactly 32-25!
The first game brought us FAPAS (Captain: Kevin Morrison PA’13) vs. 2015 (Captain: Andrew Tang), where 2015 has come away victorious in both regular season games. FAPAS were looking to come away with a win as they headed into the half down 7 points. In the second half 2015 went cold, giving FAPAS a chance to come back as they tied the game with nine minutes left. With three minutes left, FAPAS was down by four, and each team continued to scramble as many missed layups and turnovers kept the game close on both ends. FAPAS had to foul, bringing the game to be decided at the free throw line, and 2015 clinched the game at the line - but was a much closer game than the final score shows.
The second game brought us the battle between the Class of 2016 – 2016A and 2016B! Each team took each other down in the regular season so we were all in for a treat. Both teams started off hot as the score continued to go back and forth until 2016B(Captain: Sean Dempsey) had a stretch where Robbie Woodard (2016B) unleashed in the first half, scoring 18 points as he became a one man show. As 2016B was up by seven points at the half, they brought their lead to 13 in the second half, but could not increase it anymore.
Team 2016B finally went cold, allowing 2016A (Captain: Jared Scheff) to make a comeback as Jordan Demarco (2016A) hit back-to-back three pointers. With 10 minutes left in the game they brought their deficit to only two points. As the game came down to the wire, 2016A finally took a one point lead with two minutes left in the game. 2016B missed on their next trip down, but Joe Wadas (2016B) stole the ball right back for his team and got fouled on a breakaway as he headed to the free throw line. With 1:15 left in the game Joe hit one of two to tie the game at 51 apiece!
Team 2016A called a timeout to gather their team and come up with a play. With one minute left they decided to hold the ball until the last few seconds of the game. If they missed, they would once again go to overtime – just like they did the last time these two teams played each other! With six seconds left on the clock, 2016A passed the ball, John Weathers (2016B) comes away with a huge steal for his team, as he tries to hurry down the court on a breakaway, because time is winding down. John, chased by his opponents, goes up for the lay-up and lays it in as his entire team storms the court, thinking that to be the game winning lay-up just as time expired! The refs immediately announced that after the basket was made there were still 1.5 seconds left on the clock, allowing 2016A to still have a chance to win this game! On the inbounds play the ball was tipped and Robbie Woodard came away with the steal to seal the victory and upset their fellow classmates in a heartbreaker as the #5 seed – 2016B - moves on to see another day!
FAPAS (0-1) vs 2015 (1-0): 59-50
2016A (0-1) vs 2016B (1-0): 53-51
Four players picked up a double-double last night in both points and rebounds: Igòr Shigol (2015), Avi Motola (2016A), Joe Wadas (2016B) and Kevin Speechly (FAPAS)
Standout players to watch as the playoffs go on: Igòr Shigol (2015), Brett Igbinoba (2015), Robbie Woodard (2016B) and Joe Wadas (2016B).

It was the classic #1 vs #2 battle as both 3rd year teams (Class of 2014) duked it out as they left everything they had on the court. 2014A (Captain: Vittorio Mena) had something to prove as they were trying to defend their title from last year. Throughout the entire game the score went back and forth where no team had a comfortable lead on their opponent. The largest lead in the game was by 6 points as each team were trying to keep the game close and at the end of the half the score was 25-24 with 2014A up. In the 2nd half the battle continued down low as many players started to get into foul trouble. Late in the game 2014A had a little stretch where they went up by 6 points. With 3 minutes left in the game 2014B (Captain: Tyler Doersam) continued to keep it close as Taylor Allard (2014B) banked a 3 pointer to bring the game to 3 points. 2014A scored on the next trip down and with 1:30 left in the game Cole Boykins (2014B) hit a 3 pointer to bring their deficit to just 2 points. This game was going to be decided at the free throw line. Matt Cain (2014A) came up clutch in the end as he went to the free throw line twice and hit all four shots to increase their lead to 4. With 7.5 seconds left on the clock 2014B threw up a desperation 3 in hopes to bring their deficit to just 1 point and to get another quick foul.
Unfortunately for 2014B, the late mini run put up by 2014A and with the help of Michael Bittner’s (2014A) 20-point outing it was just enough to come away with the win and give them their 2nd straight championship title!
Congratulations to both 2014A (Captain: Vittorio Mena) and the Eye Ballers (Captain: Tara Veverka) as they are the 2012 Men’s and Women’s Intramural Basketball Champions!!!
