Erin Cote ’16PA has been named one of 18 national scholarship recipients from The Physician Assistant (PA) Foundation for 2015. Ms. Cote was awarded a Bristol Myers Squibb Endowed Scholarship in the amount of $5,000. According to the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA), recipients were selected based on their understanding of the PA role, what they expect to accomplish as a PA, and each individual’s relevant volunteer/community service activities.
“I'm honored to receive this award from the PA Foundation,” Cote said. “I am so thankful for their efforts in helping PA students like myself fund our education.” Her volunteer experience includes a medical mission trip to Guatemala, local hospital volunteering and starting an Arthritis Walk in her area. “The number one reason I wanted to become a PA was to be able to provide compassionate care, and that is still true today,” she noted, adding that she is “very interested in the field of orthopedics, because I think that is one area of medicine where you can make a big difference.” Cote was the Salus University representative to the Assembly of Representatives at last year's American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) conference as well. She hopes to become more involved with AAPA and/or the affiliated state society in the future.
