Dr. Radhika Aravamudhan, assistant dean for the Foundations and Assessment of Audiologic Medicine and associate professor, has been selected to attend the prestigious Council of Academic Program in Communications Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) 2016 Leadership Academy. Participation is limited to 20 individuals, chosen through a nationwide competitive process. The Academy is held just prior to the annual CAPCSD conference, scheduled this year from March 30 to April 2 in San Antonio, TX.
This year’s Leadership Academy will be led by Dr. Jeffrey Buller, dean of Florida Atlantic University Wilkes Honors College. Topics to be covered include foundations of leadership; time management; stress management; collegiality and team building; best practices in faculty evaluation, mentoring, and coaching; leading change; and goal setting/planning for the future. This program is part of the CAPCSD mission to provide visionary leadership for academic programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders and to promote the professional development of its constituents. CAPCSD initiated a program to help individuals considering academic leadership positions or who are newly engaged in academic leadership develop their knowledge and skills in the area of leadership.
