Celebrating Occupational Therapy Month

Salus University Occupational Therapy MonthIn recognition of April’s Occupational Therapy month, the University’s chapter of the Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) celebrated in a big way. SOTA hosted fun-filled weekly activities with the intention of educating students, faculty, and staff on the importance of Occupational Therapy as a profession and their significance in today’s society. Jenna Napier ’17OT, secretary of the University’s chapter of SOTA, noted, “Our goal was to engage and educate as many people as possible in order to spread the word about Occupational Therapy.” She commented, “The profession truly has a lot to offer, and holding weekly events helped us to advocate and promote.”

From a “create your own sundae” activity, to an entertaining photoshoot with adaptive equipment, and an OT vs. PT question and answer session, SOTA certainly offered a refreshing, interactive way to learn more about the profession. Napier remarked that the events were well received, “SOTA is looking forward to promoting the profession at next year’s Occupational Therapy month in an even bigger and better way. We hope to continue to educate the community for years to come.”
