New Director of SLP Program Welcomed

Kathleen YouseDean Audrey Smith of Salus University’s College of Education and Rehabilitation recently announced the appointment of Kathleen Youse, PhD, CCC-SLP, BC-ANCDS, as chair and program director of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology, effective August 1. Prior to joining Salus University, Dr. Youse formerly served as director of the Edward D. Mysak Clinic for Communication Disorders and program director for the Program in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Teachers College, Columbia University. In her internal announcement to the Salus community, Dr. Smith noted that Dr. Youse has strong experience in accreditation procedures and program and policy development.

Dr. Youse is a member of many professional organizations including the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and its Special Interest Group for Neurophysiology and Neurogenic Speech and Language Disorders, and the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences where she is currently an executive board member.

Dr. Youse received her bachelor’s degree in english from Rutgers University, completed her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Oklahoma, and her PhD from the University of Connecticut. Currently, her research is focused on the assessment and rehabilitation of neurogenic communication disorders in adults, specifically acquired brain injury.
