Salus University provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, Dr. Janice Scharre, announced the appointment of Dr. Mitchell Scheiman, dean of Research, as director of Graduate Programs in Biomedicine, effective immediately.
A professor in the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and Salus University faculty member for 34 years, Dr. Scheiman has previously served as chief of the Pediatric and Binocular Vision Service at The Eye Institute, as well as primary instructor for courses on binocular vision and vision therapy. A nationally recognized expert on convergence insufficiency, Dr. Scheiman successfully defended his dissertation in April, and became the first Salus faculty member to earn the University’s PhD in Biomedicine.
In her internal announcement to the Salus community, Dr. Scharre noted that Dr. Monaco is stepping down as associate dean of Graduate Programs in Biomedicine to enjoy his new home and year-round warm weather in Florida, but will assist Dr. Scheiman in the transition of the program over the upcoming year. Congratulations, Dr. Scheiman - what a great year!
