Anticipation filled the air on Thursday, October 6, as faculty and students processed from Salus University’s main campus across the street to Congregation Keneseth Israel, where family and friends gathered for the University's 111th commencement ceremony.
President Michael H. Mittelman welcomed graduates and their proud families with a replica of the Navy’s “FOPS” flag (flight operations flag flown on aircraft carriers prior to launching), explaining that a “FOPS” flag was flying in front of the University that same day – indicating that Salus was launching a new group of healthcare professionals into the world. Graduates heard from class representative Scott Geller, PA '16 and Mr. John Gaal, vice president of Clinical Operations, who introduced keynote speaker, Norvell V. Coots, MD, president and CEO of Holy Cross Health. Dr. Coots urged the graduates to “never give up” on themselves, their dreams, or future patients, and to keep the spark that drives them alive.
The University bestowed the following degrees on the 62 graduates: Doctor of Audiology (AuD), Master of Medical Science (MMS) in Physician Assistant Studies, and Master of Science (MS) in Blindness and Low Vision Studies. After the ceremony, graduates and their families and friends enjoyed light refreshments in the Hafter Student Center.
Congratulations to our newest Class of 2016 graduates!
