Many people have been part of the proud history of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) and Salus University. Alumni, faculty, and friends of the College helped establish PCO as a pioneer and leader in the field of optometric education and the profession of optometry. The following people - highlighted on Medal Mondays - were honored on May 20, 1995 at the 75th Anniversary Gala Celebration for their outstanding contributions to the College and the field of optometry and vision care.
At the Centennial Gala Celebration on April 27, 2019, additional alumni, faculty, and friends will be honored.
Dr. Herbert Moss has a significant influence on optometry’s development within the United States and throughout the world. He was recognized for his work with blepharoptosis and blepharospasm patients, developing many clinical appliances for them. Dr. Moss served as editor or World Optometry and the Journal of the American Optometric Association and wrote and lectured throughout his career. He was President of the New Jersey State Board of Examiners in Optometry. In 1970, Dr. Moss was named New Jersey’s Optometrist of the Year. He was an Adjunct Associate Professor of Optometry at the College. He chaired the American Optometric Association’s International Affairs Committee and was the AOA liaison to the Peace Corps. Dr. Moss was an AOA delegate to the International Optometric and Optical League and served on this organization’s committee on education. He also served on the Board of Directors of the American Optometric Foundation.
Omicron Delta Epsilon Fraternity 1938
