Centennial
During the 1965 commencement, the Beta Sigma Kappa Silver Medal was presented to Alexander John Graham by Augustus M. Iatesta OD ’52. The recipient of this award was chosen by the entire graduating class as the member most likely to make the greatest contribution to the profession of optometry. Dr. Graham was also the recipient of two additional awards during the ceremony.
The June commencement was held outdoors on the East part of campus at Old Main beneath a huge canvas marquee filled to capacity with an audience of 400. Dr. William W. Haggerty, president of Drexel Institute (now Drexel University) delivered the opening remarks.
There were 36 recipients of the Bachelor of Science degree and 42 recipients of the Doctor of Optometry degree.
