Audiology Now Offers a Three-Year Track

Hearing Aid Fitting In addition to a competitive four-year residential program, Salus University’s Osborne College of Audiology (OCA) is now offering a three-year track to interested and qualified students. All students complete the same courses which prepare graduates to diagnose, treat and manage patients with hearing and balance disorders.

The curriculum for the three-year program will operate in quarter increments. Each year, an entering class will begin in August, and students enrolled in the three-year track will earn the same credit equivalency as that of students in the four-year track. According to OCA dean, Dr. Radhika Aravamudhan, “The difference is that the credits are distributed in a unique way, compressing the three-year track into a more demanding schedule with fewer breaks.” The three-year track provides students the opportunity to complete all of the same audiology degree requirements in an accelerated 36-month, year-round, campus-based program that allows them to enter the workforce one year prior to the four-year track students.

Drawn from key features of the four-year program and consistent with OCA’s reputation for innovation and commitment to excellence, the curriculum emphasizes:

  • guided independent learning
  • lecture and laboratory instruction
  • small group learning
  • case-based learning and discussions
  • online enhanced instruction

While the four-year traditional Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program has between 28-32 students per cohort, the three-year track has a goal of four to six students for the pilot cohort. “The structured patient care experiences and small student-to-faculty ratio of the three-year track provides close faculty mentorship, as students develop the critical thinking and clinical competencies necessary for audiology practitioners,” Dr. Aravamudhan said. The three-year track recognizes and develops individual student learning styles and leadership skills. Academically talented and motivated applicants are carefully screened and accepted based on qualifications, history of academic performance, and career path.

Undergraduate students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher may be eligible for scholarships of $20,000 per year. This accelerated program also allows students to save the associated cost of living expenses up to $20,000 as they complete their education in three years.

Prospective students who would like to be considered for admission should contact the University’s Office of Admissions at admissions@salus.edu or call 800.824.6262.
