Salus University’s own Fern Silverman, EdD, OTR/L, assistant professor in the Occupational Therapy (OT) and assistant director of the OTD program, and Andrea Tyszka, OTD ‘18, MSOT, MS, OTR/L, SIPT, associate professor in the OT department, were recently interviewed by Rebecca Smith, from Thomas Jefferson University, and Deanna Longo, from Stony Brook University, for the student-run podcast “My OT Journey.”
The podcast pairs OT and Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) students from various universities and allows them to engage with experts in the field who share insights about their passion areas of occupational therapy practice.
Drs. Silverman and Tyszka discussed their work in community-based OT, specializing in universal design and sensory-friendly programming at museums and cultural institutions in the Philadelphia area.
In addition to sharing about their passion for community-based OT practice, Drs. Silverman and Tyszka also talked about their journey into the profession and conveyed what they believe makes a well-balanced OT student and practitioner who stands out from the crowd.
