Salus University and Manhattan College recently signed an articulation agreement creating a pathway for Manhattan College students to earn their master’s degrees in occupational therapy.
Under the agreement, Salus will offer reserved seats to eligible Manhattan College students who successfully complete either a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in pre-occupational therapy and meet admissions criteria for the Salus Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) Program. An academic partnership program offered by the University, students who gain admission into Salus via the 4+2 program will then be able to complete their Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) degree program in two years after earning a bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College.
“The MSOT program at Salus is exceptionally strong, as evidenced by the most recent class' 100 percent pass rate on the national board exam, an achievement that is a testament to the Occupational Therapy program’s faculty,” said James Konopack, PhD, dean of the College of Health Sciences, Education and Rehabilitation (CHER) at Salus. “There are so many exciting things happening in the University's MSOT program, and we are thrilled to welcome Manhattan College students through this partnership to help them pursue their educational goals.”
The University’s MSOT degree program prepares graduates for careers in a variety of healthcare settings including direct care providers, consultants, educators, managers, researchers and advocates for both the profession and the patient. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for occupational therapists is expected to increase as the large baby-boomer generation ages, projecting a 16 percent job growth rate through 2029.
Salus partners with colleges and universities on a local, regional and national scale to offer specialized opportunities to students who want to accelerate their academic careers in health science. Manhattan College joins a growing list of institutions with academic partnerships for the University's OT program.
