Salus’ programs top the charts!
During the segment of The College Tour focused on Rewarding Professions and Return on Investment (ROI), Salus Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) chair and director, Robert Serianni, MS, CCC-SLP, FNAP describes in detail all the reasons why. And, what better person than someone who has more than 25 years of experience clinically, and in leadership describing just what makes the University’s academic programs take the top spot.
Some stats to note that he touted during his segment were: “Speech-language pathology was number seven on the U.S. News and World Report list of the ‘100 best jobs of 2021.’ In fact, the University had three of the other professions Salus trains its students to enter also ranked among the best: Physician Assistant at No. 1, Occupational Therapist at No. 19, and Optometrist at No. 48.”
But, that’s not all. “And, there’s great news on the job front,” he continued. “The latest statistics show that there are 162,600 available jobs for SLPs, with an expected 25% increase in job outlook over the next decade.”
Job growth was obviously at the forefront of this segment and Serianni had the opportunity to talk about his favorite aspects of Salus, his position, department and career as a whole. But as a speech-language pathologist, he did not expect to waver in front of the camera as he is often a spokesperson for the SLP program and its clinical entity, the Speech-Language Institute. “Growing up all the way through college, I did theater and thought I really liked the limelight until this opportunity,” he said jokingly. “No, I did really enjoy this thoroughly. Our faculty, staff, and students are amazing.”
