Alumni from all our programs recently provided memories from their time as students here on campus. Below is one excerpt from the collection.
My journey to becoming an optometrist began when I was 12 years old. I had always been interested in the eyes, cameras, and helping people. I chose the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) because it was the closest to my home in New York City and I was fortunate to be interviewed and accepted into the Class of 1967.
At PCO, I made lasting friendships and took all the required courses. I also completed a residency in contact lenses, which became my passion. I have since fit thousands of patients and have developed a good reputation in my area (of expertise).
My greatest takeaway from my time at the College was the tools and knowledge I acquired to become a successful optometrist. I am still working and enjoy going to work every day. I am thrilled to have become an optometrist and to help patients have “ah-ha” moments when they realize what they can do with contacts.
