25 Stories for 25 Years: Greg Butcher, AuD ‘19

On the 25th anniversary of the Audiology department at Salus University, we've asked our graduates to answer some questions about their time in the department and update the Salus family on their careers.

What is your favorite part about being an audiologist?

Greg Butcher and family at commencementBeing my own boss with my own hearing service company and seeing my clients working in the regional area of the Clarence Valley, Grafton NSW Australia.

Tell us about your time at Salus University’s Osborne College of Audiology (OCA). Why did you choose to pursue your education here?

I chose Salus because it was recommended by another Australian AuD graduate who was completing her second year at the time. She told me about how good the support was behind the program and what great lecturers were involved.

What are some of your favorite memories from OCA – favorite classes, professors, classmates, clinical experiences, co-workers?

As I was an older student undertaking the International program, it was great to have a beer with program director Giri Sundar and some of the lecturers after the workshops. The campus in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, was great also and I remember taking photos out in front next to the pond and gazebo.

Tell us about your life after OCA – where do/did you practice, how long?

I have run my family business Accent Hearing Pty Ltd in Grafton NSW Australia for 13 years now (five years as an AuD). I love the freedom and reputation that the AuD has given me, in our regional area.

As Osborne Audiology celebrates 25 years in 2025, what are your hopes for the profession for the next 25 years?

For audiologists to be wanted and respected in all aspects of hearing.
