Audiology Reflections: Aaron Roman, AuD, CCC-A, FAAA, associate professor

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Audiology programs, we asked alumni, faculty, and students about their reflections on the program. Here is what they had to say:

Aaron Roman in front of the gazeboI was offered a position in the Audiology department that I can split between academics and clinical and research. It was a really good opportunity for me because I could bring more of my clinical experiences to students. And, academically, it allows me to be in a very audiology-centric position surrounded by colleagues that are very active in the profession.

I work alongside great clinicians that really challenge me and help me grow, which as someone who's been in the profession, it's really nice to see different perspectives and be pushed to think differently.

One of the things I’ve enjoyed during my time here is being in the Pennsylvania Ear Institute (PEI) (the clinical practice for the Doctor of Audiology program) seeing patients. One of the coolest aspects about this area and this University in particular is we get such a diverse array of patients - just having that exposure is so unique and I really enjoy that.

Being a part of the audiology community, especially around here, is that we have so many different perspectives and so many different experts in different parts of audiology. It is really nice to be able to have communication across lines that I wouldn't be able to have at any other University.
