In celebration of the centuries-old Valentine's Day, we thought it was the perfect time to share some of our very own Salus love stories.

“We met in 1998 in Dr. Larry McClure's (former director of Institutional Research and Strategic Planning) car as he took us both up to see the new Elkins Park campus during renovations,” Joe said. “We became friendly at the new campus as Sharon was a frequent junk food customer in the University’s Bookstore.”
Co-workers were trying to set them up for a while, and Sharon was even convinced to see Joe's band play one night in Ardmore, Pa. thanks to the late Emily Rosen, former Bookstore assistant manager.
“One afternoon several employees arranged for lunch at a popular vegetarian restaurant in Willow Grove, but suspiciously each one dropped out until it was just the two of us remaining,” Joe said. “That was our first date in the fall of 2000, and we eventually married in 2004 - we have continued to dine out regularly and frequently ever since. True story.”
Ingrained in traditions and often associated with greeting cards – it’s the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas - it only makes sense that several of the University’s love stories started in the iconic halls and classrooms of PCO and now Salus amidst textbooks and note taking.
“We met as first year optometry students and started dating at the end of our first year,” Amy said. “We got married September 14, 2002 and now have two children, Madelyn and Carter.”
The two also run a private practice together in Saxonburg, Pa., a small town a little north of Pittsburgh.
“We were introduced to each other in the cafeteria by a mutual friend during my first year and his third year at PCO,” Jill said. “He's from Canada and I'm from Illinois, so he did his residency at ICO while I did my rotations in Chicago.” The happy couple were married on June 23, 2012 and had their daughter, Lana, on New Year’s Eve 2017.
“My husband Bill and I met during our first year of school in the physician assistant program in 2009,” Blair said. “We started dating and after graduating from Salus in 2011 we moved to Charleston, S.C. to start our careers.” Several of the couple’s classmates attended their wedding in November 2016 and one was even a groomsman.
