Background Check Policy

Please be advised that the University makes academic program acceptance decisions without regard to criminal history. However, students may be subjected to annual background checks in accordance with the University's Background Check Policy (PDF). A criminal conviction or other matter uncovered by the background checks may prevent a student from participating in clinical or other educational experiences necessary for graduation and/or from obtaining a professional license post graduation.

Any applicant with a criminal conviction or other matter that may be uncovered by the background checks is strongly encouraged to contact their prospective program to confidentially discuss the potential implications prior to accepting an offer of admission and matriculating.

Vaccination Policy

The health and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and patients is a top priority at the University. As a health science teaching and clinical institution, we require the receipt of certain vaccines and strongly recommend others. Matriculated students who are required by their curriculum to learn on Salus property will be expected to follow the University's Vaccination Policy (PDF).

All students are advised that their academic programs and clinical rotation sites may have additional health-related and vaccination requirements and exemption/opt-out guidelines that may vary from those prescribed by the policy and the failure to comply with such requirements/guidelines may delay or preclude clinical placement and/or graduation.

The University’s compliance program is managed by CastleBranch. More details will follow prior to the start of classes for new students regarding compliance requirements, including background checks and immunizations.
