Why did you choose Salus?
From the very beginning of the interview day, I was drawn to the atmosphere of the campus and the faculty/staff of the program at Salus. Donna Agnew, the director of the PA program, made those of us interviewing feel very at ease, which was invaluable given how nervous we all were. And the students who gave us a tour affirmed that feeling. I left that day feeling like it just felt right. In regards to the program itself, I appreciate the fact that it exposes us to clinical sites in our first year. Not many programs offer that, and it was a key factor in my decision to attend Salus. In addition, the program has a lot of repetition. That isn’t to say that we learn the same topic multiple times, but rather, we may learn about a condition in one class in the first semester, and then cover it again, but in more detail or from a different perspective in the next semester to reinforce and expand our understanding. Given that we are getting basically a condensed version of medical school in 2 years, that repetition is key to remembering and really understanding so that we may bring it into our clinical rotations and future careers. Salus is one of the few programs to which I applied that places an emphasis on that style of learning and was another key factor when it came time to make my final decision. No matter how difficult it can be some days, it still just feels right.
