Hannah JaskutaWhy did you choose Salus?

Hi, I'm Hannah Jaskuta, and I'm a second-year Speech-Language Pathology student. I decided to complete my master’s degree at Salus because of the remarkable opportunities that the program has to offer. I knew it was the right fit after I finished my interview and tour. From day one, the professors and faculty were very welcoming, and it was clear that they cared about the success of the students. Not only was academics important to me, but the abundance of extracurricular choices was impressive. I was pleased to see that the faculty took academics seriously, and they also encouraged us to engage in extracurriculars outside of the program to grow as individuals as well.

Clinical experience and hands-on learning was an important feature when it came down to where I wanted to go to school. Salus was one of the few universities to have clinical opportunities in the first semester. Early clinical exposure and opportunities to work in the surrounding communities have been some of the best learning experiences! The location is ideal, too. I knew that being right outside the city would give me more networking and externship options. The location itself helped me to become a more competent clinician because I was able to work with a wide range of different populations and cultures.

The novelty of the Speech-Language Pathology program was a plus to me because I could see how the program has evolved and changed with the profession over the years. The faculty uses the advanced technologies right on campus to keep our education up-to-date. That alone gives me confidence going into the professional world.

Salus was the best choice for me! I'm so excited to graduate and use the knowledge I've gained from this program to propel me into my professional career. Every professor, clinical educator and supervisor I had the privilege of working with and learning from helped shape me into the clinician and person I am today.
