Why did you choose Salus?
Hi, my name is Hayley Schehr and I am currently in the didactic year of the Physician Assistant program! As someone who grew up in Pittsburgh, I did not know much about Salus until I attended an informational session with one of their admissions representatives at my undergraduate college. This session piqued my interest in the school and prompted me to conduct further research. As I continued to learn more about Salus, I was really impressed by all of the pre-clinical experiences and service-learning opportunities that are offered to students.
When it came time to interview, I was excited but also very nervous! However, from the moment the interview began, my mind was put at ease. The faculty was so friendly and welcoming, which was a breath of fresh air. Graduate interviews can be intimidating, but the Salus staff made me feel so comfortable that it became conversational. It was evident that the staff genuinely wanted to learn more about me, a quality unlike those exhibited by interviewers at other schools. Aside from maintaining wonderful statistics and success rates, a key factor that led my decision was the caring nature of the PA program faculty. Their passion for the profession and concern for preparing students to be successful providers set them apart from other schools.
I recall leaving the interview with a smile on my face because all the pieces felt as if they were falling into place. I knew in that moment that I had found the graduate program that would best equip me to become a compassionate and knowledgeable physician assistant!
