Sara Dilly, Physician Assistant Studies

Sara Dilly outside the Salus University main entranceWhy did you choose Salus?

Students often talk about the “vibe” they get immediately when they first step foot onto a campus. When I arrived at Salus University for the first time to interview, a sense of familiarity greeted me. From day one of orientation, even with my thoughts and nerves racing, the PA faculty welcomed us. The professors have lectured about pathologies, demonstrated proper physical diagnosis skills, incorporated cases from their own professional experience, and then lectured some more. They continued to challenge our critical thinking and decision-making skills throughout didactic year, with the goal of nurturing us to become the best possible physicians for our future patients. Aside from an excellent education, the Salus PA program faculty also inspired us to believe in ourselves each step of the way.

When touring undergraduate campuses, the “small campus, big family” message put forth by Muhlenberg College greatly appealed to me. I knew that I didn’t want to be just a number on a piece of paper; I wanted to feel challenged yet encouraged by faculty. Another goal of mine was to continue playing basketball at a collegiate level. Muhlenberg enabled me to study Biology and Public Health while also competing as a DIII athlete.

Sara and AlexWhenever I walked past my professors on campus, they would stop to say hello and congratulate the team on a recent win. I’m very proud to be a Muhlenberg alum, and I’m grateful for how my time there as an undergrad student prepared me for the rigorous demands of grad school.

Coincidentally, I’m not the only Muhlenberg alum in the Salus PA Class of 2022. Alexandra Domaradsky, Muhlenberg College ‘18, was also drawn to the benefits of a smaller campus. Alex and I had mutual friends at Muhlenberg but we did not know each other personally. Based on our connection as fellow Mules, we agreed to be roommates along with Lydia Gladfelter, Juniata College ‘20. The three of us are now not only roommates and future Physician Assistants, but we are also great friends.

There is no better feeling than knowing that you made the right decision in life. I know without a doubt that I was meant to be a student at Salus University. Having a second opportunity to cross paths with Alex and creating friendships that will last a lifetime was simply the “icing on the cake.”
