Hi, I am Ki’Ara Bruce, a first-year Audiology student in the Osborne College of Audiology (OCA). I chose audiology because I wanted to be in a field that helped people restore/maintain their ability to communicate.
Here is what my day looked like yesterday:
I woke up at 4:30 a.m and got ready to go to the gym. Last night I packed all my stuff so that I could go right to the gym in the morning.
I got to the gym around 5 a.m. and worked out. I finished around 7:00 a.m., showered, and got ready to head to campus.
I got to Salus at around 8:00 a.m. Once I got to campus, I ate breakfast and studied for my Audiometric Principles 2 midterm. The midterm was on speech masking and otoscopy.
I took my Audiometric Principles 2 midterm from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
I have a work-study position with the Communications department at Salus, so I headed to the office after my midterm and I worked there from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
After I finished up my work with the Communications department, I headed to my Hearing Tech 1 lab, led by Dr. Janelle Burdette in the Electrophysiology and Hearing Technologies Lab. We worked on how to check hearing aids with the Verifit® units.
Afterward, I went to my Audiometric Principles Lab, where we were practicing standardized patients.
I left campus at around 7:00 p.m. and went home, made dinner, and studied.
After studying, I watched some TV to end my day and went to sleep around 11:00 p.m.
