Anita Werner, Occupational Therapy

Why did you choose Salus?

Growing up in a household of optometrists, I wanted to seek a different healthcare profession. I came across occupational therapy and fell in love with the aspect of treating the patient holistically. Salus offered me the opportunity to follow this career path in such a way to bridge my knowledge of the optometric world to my growing learning experiences of the Occupational Therapy (OT) profession. The decision to choose Salus was fairly easy for me since my parents, Annette Zamboni-Werner, OD '89, and F. Joseph Werner, OD ’88, and my two brothers Alexander Werner, OD '19, and Anderson Werner, OD ’21, graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University.

As a legacy, Salus welcomed me with open arms and continues to provide me with opportunities to become a competent and professional occupational therapist. At some point in my career, I plan to pursue a doctorate in occupational therapy specializing in remedial vision rehabilitation and hopefully being able to implement this in our family eyecare practice. Salus University offers a unique program to which I can achieve these goals. But for now, I am truly enjoying my time at Salus and I am very content with my decision to choose this graduate school.
