Audiology Learning Experience (ALE)

Audiology is one of the fastest growing professions in the United States. The University originally established the Audiology Learning Experience (ALE) in 2017 based on the success of the Optometry Learning Experience (OLE), established in 1979, to offer interested undergraduate students the opportunity to gain insight into the academics involved in the Doctor of Audiology program and in a career in the audiology profession.

Instructor teaches ALE participants

During the one day program, typically held each summer, participants meet with Audiology faculty members for a round table discussion; observe clinical skills demonstrations in the program‘s clinical labs; sit in on a class; and learn about the University’s admissions process and career trajectories for those who earn a Doctor of Audiology degree. They also tour the University and the Pennsylvania Ear Institute (PEI), the Osborne College of Audiology’s clinical teaching facility.

The goal of the ALE program is to open students’ minds to the possibilities of an education and career in audiology, along with teaching and research opportunities in the profession.

ALE 2024

This year, ALE will be held on-campus on August 2, 2024. This year's one-day event will be a highly interactive online experience and is open to undergraduate students who are interested in audiology as well as to those who may be undecided about their career direction.

Students will have the opportunity to interact with faculty, staff, and current students, as well as virtually tour our clinical skills lab and the Pennsylvania Ear Institute.
