Collaborative, Core Competencies
for Interprofessional Collaborative
Practice, 2016 Update.

Interprofessional Collaborative Practice, entry level (IPCPe) is a new, co-curricular, microcredential badge offering open to students in all University professional programs.

For students in good academic standing, IPCPe provides an opportunity to distinguish themselves by earning badges that document proficiency in interprofessional collaborative practice.

A microcredential is a competency-based recognition that allows learners to demonstrate competency in a particular area.

Badges are digital technologies representing competencies and learning achievements, electronically displayable in email signatures, social media profiles, resumés, CVs, etc.

Earning Badges

There are four microcredential badges, one for each of the competencies for interprofessional collaborative practice developed by the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) (IPEC Competencies). There are no credits and no grades in IPCPe. Participation is voluntary, and there are no additional costs. Interested students enroll in a series of four Interprofessional Learning Activities (IPLA). Each IPLA is linked to specific IPEC sub-competencies that are emphasized in that IPLA. Students who successfully complete all four IPLAs, in sequential order, will be awarded the four microcredential badges plus the fifth, culminating badge.

IPLAs are scheduled during non-class hours. Each meets synchronously (either virtually or in person) for two hours and requires upto an hour of additional, asynchronous pre-work.

For the first year of the program, we are following this schedule.
