Although it was a bit rainy, the holiday season was off to a great start on December 6th at East Norriton’s 22nd Annual Holiday Parade, benefiting the University's "Looking Out for Kids" (LOFK) vision care initiative. Thanks to the generosity and support of Hillcrest Plaza Merchant's Association, Tornetta Properties, Inc., the Salus community and the holiday parade sponsors and donors, Salus University was able to accept $8,000 to benefit this important program.
Salus University and its College of Optometry have a long and distinguished tradition of providing services to disadvantaged children. For many years, our primary focus was providing services to children in the School District of Philadelphia. Over the last two years we have expanded our programs to include the Norristown Area School District. We are able to provide comprehensive vision exams and eyeglasses through the University’s “Looking Out for Kids” charity fund. This generous donation will help ensure many more economically disadvantaged children in Norristown will receive the vision care necessary to ensure academic success.
Representatives from Tornetta Properties, Inc., Kimberly Tornetta-Attanasio and Beth McGuffin, presented the check to Salus president, Dr. Michael H. Mittelman, & chief of staff, Dr. Susan C. Oleszewski.
