November Continuing Education Event

continuing education slideOn November 1 and 2, the Elkins Park campus hosted 395 optometrists who came to attend continuing education (CE) seminars. Presented by the University’s Office of International and Continuing Education, the two-day CE offered practitioners 16 education credits and lectures by Salus faculty who are renowned experts.

The broad array of topics included: adverse effects of anti-diabetic medications; systemic medications in optometric practice; challenges in ophthalmic disease; vision rehabilitation; interdisciplinary care of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus; glaucoma cases; scleral lenses; pediatric eye care; and oral pharmaceuticals.

Additionally, there was an interprofessional panel of Salus faculty that presented. Panelists were: Sarah Appel, OD, FAAO; Linda Casser, OD, FAAO, FNAP; Caitlyn Foy, OTD, OTR/L; Joy Henderson, MMS, PA-C; Michael H. Mittelman, OD, MPH, FAAO; Jonette Owen, AuD; Fabiana Perla, EdD; Robert Serianni, MS, CCC-SLP, and Melissa Vitek, OD, FAAO.
