On December 15, Salus President Michael H. Mittelman, OD, MPH, and Mrs. Indira M. Kameswaran, executive director of the Madras ENT Research Foundation (P) Ltd and correspondent of its MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing in Chennai, India, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions. Also present were Dr. Mohan Kameswaran, managing director and senior consultant at the MERF Institute, Dr. Janice Scharre, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs for Salus; Dr. Victor Bray, OCA dean; Dr. Giri Sundar, director of OCA distance education and Dr. Melissa Vitek, director of International and Continuing Education for the University.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU or MoU) is a formal agreement between two or more parties, in this case Salus University Osborne College of Audiology (OCA) and the MERF Institute. This MOU allows exploration of future collaborative educational opportunities between the two institutions. Specifically for the MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing, the MOU will encourage activities for the advancement of audiology education in India utilizing OCA resources.
