Salus Welcomes Dr. Jason J. Barr
The University’s provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, Dr. Janice Scharre, recently announced the appointment of Dr. Jason J. Barr as the new dean of the College of Education and Rehabilitation (CER), effective September 12. In his new role as chief academic officer for CER, Dr. Barr will be responsible for ensuring the quality, content, and accreditation process for all programs within the college.
Dr. Barr brings more than 15 years of research and academic experience to Salus. Most recently, he was a researcher at the IDEA Center Inc., a nonprofit organization devoted to improving learning in higher education through research, assessment and professional development. Previously, Dr. Barr worked for Monmouth University as the associate dean for the School of Education and as an associate professor in Educational Leadership, Counseling and Special Education.
Dr. Barr received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and criminal justice from University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut, a Master of Arts degree in educational psychology from New York University and his doctorate degree in applied developmental psychology from Fordham University in New York.
Dr. Audrey Smith will assist with the transition through the winter before leaving for sabbatical.
