Salus Sponsors the Annual Northeast Association of Advisors for Health Professions Conference
From June 8-11, the Northeast Association of Advisors for Health Professions (NEAAHP) Conference, gathered in Philadelphia where more than 300 undergraduate advisors learned about local health institutions. The annual conference aims to equip undergraduate advisors with the tools and resources needed to guide undergraduate students seeking to advance their education in health professions.
Salus had a notable presence at the event with an exhibit booth, a sponsored lunch event for pre-health advisors, a special presentation from Dr. James Caldwell, dean of Student Affairs, and a tour of the University’s Elkins Park campus and facilities, ending with a small reception in the Learning Resource Center.
Director of Admissions Monica Maisto said the event was the perfect opportunity to ensure undergraduate advisors up and down the East Coast know about all the educational and clinical experiences Salus has to offer.
“With the conference being in Philadelphia, we wanted to take the opportunity to give more visibility to the University and showcase all of our program offerings to the regional health professions advisors,” she said. “We also wanted to ‘show off’ our campus and all the many accomplishments of each of the programs. Multiple advisors mentioned to me how impressed they were with their visit and how they were left with the impression that Salus is dedicated to the education and success of our students.”
The associate director of Dickinson College’s Career Center, Debi Swarner, mentioned she was familiar with Salus prior to the event, but learned much more about what the University has to offer future healthcare practitioners.
“While a Salus University representative had previously visited our campus, it was useful to visit Salus this week to see all of the opportunities that the campus presents for students in person,” she said. “The staff at Salus warmly welcomed our NEAAHP member advisors for the visit during our Philadelphia 2017 meeting and graciously shared both career information about the various healthcare careers offered at Salus as well as about the programs and curricula at the institution. Learning about the variety of programs as well as the interdisciplinary opportunities for students showed us one of the powerful reasons that our students should consider Salus.”
