New Agreements with USciences for the Audiology Program

An articulation agreement is a formal partnership between two or more colleges and universities that provide an academic pathway for a student to receive one or more degrees. As an articulation agreement bridges two academic programs together, it is often appealing to a student as it typically guarantees an interview or a seat into graduate and professional school, or allows them to take a year off of their undergraduate program which in turn cuts down on tuition costs, provided that the requirements set forth in the agreement are met by the student.

Salus now has over 40 articulation agreements in total across the programs including Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, and Physician Assistant Studies. The majority of the agreements Salus has with other institutions guarantee an interview, while a select few guarantee reserved seats.

“It’s always a pleasure to work with the exceptional leadership and staff at USciences and we’re extremely excited to expand our collaboration with them to offer their students opportunities in healthcare professions that we have on our campus,” said Dr. Michael Mittelman, president of Salus.

The agreements entered into are the following:

  • Complete the Pre-Audiology curriculum at USciences and all Salus prerequisites must be completed with a grade of ‘B-‘ or better.
  • Attain a GPA of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale.
  • Submit a completed application to the Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS), including  results of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and required letters of evaluation.
  • Complete the GRE with a minimum Quantitative, Verbal, and Analytical Writing scores greater than or equal to the 40th percentile.
  • Shadow a practicing audiologist(s) for a minimum of 25 hours in order to be familiar with the role of audiologist as a member of the healthcare team.
  • Successful completion of an interview by the OCA and Office of Admissions.

OCA will reserve four seats for USciences students interested in the 3+4 AuD Program and four seats for those interested in the 4+4 AuD Program as long as they meet the above requirements.

The University’s AuD curriculum is a four-year residential program that prepares graduates to diagnose, treat, and manage patients with hearing and balance disorders.

These aren’t the first articulation agreements for the Universities however. Both Salus and  USciences have previous agreements for students who wish to pursue Doctor of Optometry degrees within the University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO).
