NBC10 News Anchor Rosemary Connors to Host Annual Charity Event

Rosemary ConnorsNBC10 News anchor Rosemary Connors will again host the University’s 13th annual Looking Out for Kids (LOFK) charity event Nov. 2 at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue.

Proceeds from the LOFK fundraiser help provide vision care services and eyeglasses for economically disadvantaged children in Montgomery and Philadelphia, Pa., counties. One in four children suffers from visual difficulties, which can adversely impact their school performance and impede social development.

Connors, an Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter, is the third generation of women in her family to report the news in Philadelphia. A native of Wynnewood in Montgomery County, Pa., she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania. While there, she was a Division I field hockey player and worked at WXPN-FM in Philadelphia.

She also holds a law degree from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, which has helped her in reporting on high-profile cases such as actor-comedian Bill Cosby and former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

Rosemary and her husband at LOFKJoining NBC10 in 2009, Connors can be seen on live weekday reports and anchoring on weekend mornings. Prior to working at NBC10, she got her broadcast start as an intern on The Today Show and for NBC10. She then worked as a reporter in Grand Junction, Colo., and in Fort Myers, Fla. She has won four Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards.

Connors, who will be hosting the LOFK event for the fifth time, chairs the board of the nonprofit MANNA, which has been serving residents throughout the region battling life-threatening illnesses by cooking and delivering medically appropriate meals and providing nutritional counseling. She is also an active supporter of the Kyle Ambrogi Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes education and awareness of depression in teens and adults, as well as serves on the Philadelphia Leadership Council of Ashley Addiction Treatment, a nonprofit facility specializing in substance abuse disorders.
