The Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) at Salus University welcomes Fiza Tariq, OD '20, Resident '21, as an instructor and optometrist in The Eye Institute’s (TEI) pediatric services.
Dr. Tariq graduated from the University of Waterloo, Ontario with a bachelor’s degree in public health. She then continued on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Accelerated Scholars Program at PCO/Salus where she also completed a residency in Pediatrics, Binocular Vision and Vision Therapy. According to PCO/Salus dean, Melissa Trego, OD '04, Resident '09, PhD, she is the first graduate of the scholars program to be hired as a faculty member.
In her role as a clinical instructor, she will be precepting third-and fourth-year students while providing quality care to children and their families at TEI.
“It is a huge honor to join PCO/Salus University as a faculty member! I am thrilled to be part of a community that aims to provide the highest quality of optometric education while providing essential eye care services to the local Philadelphia community. I hope to be able to contribute meaningfully to the institution that that has made me the optometrist that I am today,” said Dr. Tariq.
