Only six years removed from Salus University, Victoria Wong, MMS ‘16 is making a big impact in the Physician Assistant (PA) profession, and for her outstanding work, she is being recognized as the 2023 Salus University Alumni Association PA Alumna of the Year.
“It is such an honor [to receive this award], Salus has had very successful graduates that practice in many different fields, with extensive achievements. It is an honor that they have chosen me as a recipient,” said Wong.
After graduating from Salus, Wong began working at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, where she has stayed for the past six years. “I have had a really supportive team and collaborating physicians [at Fox Chase] that have always encouraged me to push myself, in and out of the field.”
She credits Fox Chase immensely for helping to progress her career, as she has the opportunity to be involved in many different clinical trials, and has benefited from a supportive team and collaborating physicians. She has also remained connected to Salus by working as a guest lecturer, where she has taught students about the urology clinical medicine model, which includes different urologic malignancies.
“I think it is important to have people working in the field lecture to talk about their experiences,” she said. “Salus really prepared me for my career and made sure all of their students succeed. I am thankful to be able to give back to Salus and the PA students in this capacity.”
In addition to her Alumna of the Year recognition, in 2021, Wong and two of her colleagues. were awarded the 2021 Article of the Year from the Journal of Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology, for their article on the “Management of Hematologic Adverse Events Associated With Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors.” Wong also will be at the American Academy of Physician Associates conference this year presenting about prostate cancer.
Salus University officials are thankful for her continued support of the University, and contributions to the PA Studies program. The University is looking forward to celebrating her continued success and accomplishments throughout the rest of her career.
