SLP students holding their donations for the sock driveNSSLHA Sock Drive: Salus' chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) collected over 140 pairs of socks to donate to Socks for the Streets, an organization that provides new socks to the homeless and Veterans. The collection was coordinated through the Speech-Language Institute (SLI), the program's on-campus clinical facility which received donations from students, faculty and clinical educators, University leadership and staff, and SLI's clients and families.

SOTA Donation Drive: The Salus University Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) chapter hosted a drive collecting donations of unused and new kitchen tools and art supplies. The drive supported The Next Step organization, which helps educate people with disabilities on independent living skills. 

Dr. Duncan Podcast: Chad Duncan, PhD, CRC, CPO, chair and program director of the Orthotics & Prosthetics (O&P) program, was featured on The Prosthetics and Orthotics podcast, which focuses on a deep dive into the profession, 3D printing, manufacturing and more. SLP faculty volunteering at MANNASLP Trip to MANNA: The Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) department volunteered at MANNA doing food prep. MANNA provides free, healthy meals for individuals suffering from a chronic illness.

Accepted Student Day: Salus University’s SLP and O&P programs hosted their inaugural accepted student days this past weekend. Students had the opportunity to visit the Elkins Park, Pennsylvania campus, tour the facilities, meet faculty, and interact with their prospective classmates. Accepted students day was first offered for Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) students last year, but has since expanded to include the Audiology, SLP and O&P programs.

Occupational Therapy (OT) Conference: Five Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program (OTD) students and two Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) students attended the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) annual conference in Kansas City, Missouri from April 19th to the 23rd. SOTA officers Lexi Hunn MSOT ‘24, and Mia Nicolosi, MSOT ‘24, represented Salus at the annual Assembly of Student Delegates meeting, and Caitlyn Foy, DOT, MOTR/L, OTD program director, hosted a Salus University expo table and talked to prospective MSOT and OTD students.
