Throwback Thursday: PEI's Opening & Fast Facts

PEI Fast Facts

  • 2000 -The Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) School of Audiology was founded by the late Dr. George S. Osborne and offered an online bridge AuD program for licensed practitioners.
  • 2003 -The PCO School of Audiology launched the four-year on-campus Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree.
  • 2004 -As dean of the then PCO School of Audiology, Dr. Osborne proudly presided over the opening of the Pennsylvania Ear Institute (PEI) on November 19.
  • 2007 -The first residential Doctor of Audiology (AuD) class graduated.
  • 2008 -The Pennsylvania Ear Institute expanded its original area in February.
  • 2008 -PCO established Salus University on July 1. The PCO School of Audiology was officially renamed George S. Osborne College of Audiology in Dr. Osborne's memory.
  • 2014 -The Pennsylvania Ear Institute expanded and renovated its space in the fall.
  • 2016 -The Pennsylvania Ear Institute held its first Open House event on March 10.
  • 2016 -PEI’s school hearing screening program launches prior to the 2016-17 academic year, providing screenings to school children in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs.
  • 2016 –In the summer, Dr. Lindsay M. Bondurant joined Salus University as the clinical director of the Pennsylvania Ear Institute.
  • 2017 – In the spring, PEI installed new state-of-the-art equipment including an audiometer and tympanometer, allowing for more advanced hearing evaluations.
  • 2017 –The Osborne College of Audiology hosted its inaugural Audiology Learning Experience in June, giving prospective students the opportunity to learn about the University’s Doctor of Audiology program.
  • 2017 – The Pennsylvania Ear Institute held its fall Open House event on November 4.
  • 2017 –In the fall, PEI installed an upgraded rotary chair and a video head impulse test (vHIT) to provide more comprehensive vestibular evaluations.
  • 2018 – PEI launched the very first Coffee Talks lecture series in January featuring short lectures on topics including: hearing aids, tinnitus and balance.
  • 2018 – PEI hosted an Open House event and tinnitus information session on May 19.
