Many people have been part of the proud history of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) and Salus University. Alumni, faculty, and friends of the College helped establish PCO as a pioneer and leader in the field of optometric education and the profession of optometry. The following people - highlighted on Medal Mondays - were honored on May 20, 1995 at the 75th Anniversary Gala Celebration for their outstanding contributions to the College and the field of optometry and vision care.
At the Centennial Gala Celebration on April 27, 2019, additional alumni, faculty, and friends will be honored.
Donald Gleklen has brought important insight and leadership to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and now Salus University as one of the early non-optometrists to join the Board of Trustees. He has served on the Board since 1991 and is currently an emeritus member. Instrumental in expanding and strengthening the membership of the Board, he was also resourceful in opening many new avenues for financial support. He was formerly senior vice president – Corporate Development at MEDIQ Incorporated, Pennsauken, N.J., and had previously been executive vice president and senior lending officer of Industrial Valley bank and Trust Co. in Philadelphia. He has been director of several publicly owned companies including Nutramax Products, Inc., Gloucester, Mass.; Gandalf Technologies, Inc., Ottawa, Canada; and New West Eyeworks, Inc., Tempe, Ariz.
