Why did you choose your particular profession?
Eyesight is the most precious of all senses.
Tell us about your time at Salus/PCO. Why did you choose to study there?
I chose PCO [Pennsylvania College of Optometry] because of its reputation for academic and clinical excellence.
What are some of your favorite memories from Salus/PCO – favorite classes, professors, classmates, clinical experiences, co-workers?
One of my fondest memories at PCO is sitting at a table hearing Larry Gray, OD ’72 and Dr. Lorraine Lombardi discussing a neuro case. I felt privileged and was in awe of the amount of knowledge that was being shared among two of the greatest minds in neuro.
Tell us about your life after Salus/PCO – where do/did you practice, how long?
I went on to start four optometry locations in the Raleigh, N.C., area and became the first optometrist in the state to hire an ophthalmologist. We eventually sold all four locations in 2014. I now enjoy consulting and helping young doctors start their own offices.
As Salus/PCO celebrates 100 years in 2019, what are your hopes for the college in the next 100 years?
To continue to be the best of the best.
